When a man says he wants a divorce it leaves his wife overcome with many emotions. A lot of what she’s feeling will be dependent on whether or not she’s still in love with him. If you’re the wife and you absolutely adore your husband, the last thing you want is to separate or divorce him. You may feel that you don’t have a choice since he’s made it so painfully clear it’s what he wants. You do have a choice. Letting him go without a fight will be something you’ll forever regret. You need to take action now to do whatever it takes to save your marriage.
The first thing you must understand when a man says he wants a divorce is that it could very well be coming from a place of utter frustration. If you and your husband have been struggling with specific issues in your marriage and there’s been absolutely no resolution, he may feel that ending things is the only way to go. Consider whether or not he’s shown dissatisfaction about the issues you two have been dealing with. If he suddenly gave up trying to find a compromise, it may be time to revisit them. When a man feels that he can’t be heard in his own home, he’s not going to want to remain there for very long at all.
Your husband may also be telling you that he wants a divorce when he simply just needs some time by himself. Many couples go through a period where a legal separation feels like the right thing to do. One partner needs some time to think and for all intents and purposes it’s easier to accomplish that if they’re not in the family home.
If your spouse is insistent on the idea of a divorce, present the compromise of a separation to begin with. This will allow him the time he needs and will also afford you some space to consider what really is best for you. Many men who move out come to realize, very quickly, that it was a mistake. They miss their wife so much that they recognize the issues that have been driving them apart really aren’t that important after all.
This may very well be a case of giving him a little room so he can realize exactly what he’s on the brink of losing forever. As difficult as it is, being understanding during this crucial time in your marriage can go a long way towards repairing the relationship and reestablishing the bond between you and your husband.
